Why LGR matters for structural drying
A conventional refrigerant dehumidifier struggles once relative humidity drops below about 40%. A low grain refrigerant (LGR) unit pre-cools incoming air before it hits the evaporator coil, so it keeps condensing moisture in the drier air you get in the second and third days of a drying job. That is the difference between a room that is dry on Tuesday and one that is dry on Thursday, and it is why insurers and restoration standards specify LGR units for Class 2 and Class 3 water losses.

Sizing a dehumidifier
As a rule of thumb, allow one 50L unit for every 40 to 60 square metres of wet area in a domestic loss, and step up to the 70L or 90L for open-plan rooms, high ceilings or Class 3 losses where the whole structure is wet. What does the litre rating on a dehumidifier mean?
It is the maximum amount of water the unit can remove from the air in 24 hours under test conditions (typically 26°C and 90% relative humidity). Real-world removal is lower once the air starts to dry out, which is why LGR technology matters.
Can I run a Thorair dehumidifier on a normal power point?
Yes. All models run on a standard 230 V / 10 amp Australian outlet. The 90L draws a maximum of 6 amps.
Do the dehumidifiers need to be emptied?
No. Each unit includes a drain hose and pump so condensate is discharged continuously to a sink, drain or outside.
