WiFi Connectivity

Selected Thorair dehumidifiers include WiFi control, so you can check humidity, adjust the set point and confirm the machine is still running from your phone, without driving back to site. Follow the steps below to connect your unit.

Before you begin

  • Make sure the dehumidifier is switched on and within range of the wireless router or a mobile hotspot.
  • Connect your phone to a 2.4 GHz WiFi network. Most Thorair units do not join 5 GHz networks. If your router broadcasts both on one name, temporarily separate them or use a 2.4 GHz-only guest network.
  • Have the WiFi password ready and keep your phone close to the unit during pairing.
  • Download the control app named in your unit's manual from the App Store or Google Play and create an account.

Connecting your dehumidifier

  1. Open the app, sign in and tap Add device.
  2. On the dehumidifier, hold the WiFi button (or the button shown in your manual) for about five seconds until the WiFi indicator flashes rapidly. This puts the unit in pairing mode.
  3. In the app, select your 2.4 GHz network, enter the password and tap Next. The app sends the details to the unit.
  4. Wait up to two minutes. The indicator stops flashing and stays lit once the unit is online.
  5. Name the device (for example "90L Van 2") so you can tell units apart on a multi-machine job.

What you can control remotely

  • Switch the unit on and off.
  • Set the target humidity and read the current humidity and temperature.
  • Change fan speed and set a timer.
  • Receive an alert if the unit stops, so a tripped breaker on day two does not cost you a day of drying.

On-site tips

Many customer premises will not give you their WiFi password. A cheap prepaid 4G hotspot left on site solves this and can be reused on every job. If the router is far from the machine, place the hotspot near the unit rather than near the door. The unit reconnects automatically after a power cut once the network is back.

Troubleshooting

  • Pairing times out. Confirm the phone is on 2.4 GHz, move closer to the unit, and restart pairing mode.
  • Unit shows offline. Check the router or hotspot has power and internet. Power-cycle the dehumidifier.
  • Wrong password. Remove the device in the app and pair again.
  • Still stuck. Call 1300 263 551 or email info@thorair.com.au with your model number and we will walk you through it.

Model-specific instructions are in the product manuals.
