Drying buildings in the UAE
Coastal humidity is the UAE's hidden water problem. From June to September relative humidity along the Gulf regularly exceeds 80 per cent while temperatures sit above 40 degrees, so every air-conditioned building is fighting condensation: chilled-water pipe sweating in towers, drip-tray overflows in villas, and damp, mouldy ceilings wherever insulation has failed. Basement car parks, gyms and plant rooms with weak ventilation are the usual trouble spots.
Then there is rain. Will Thorair dehumidifiers work on UAE power?
Yes. The UAE runs 220 to 240 volts at 50 hertz, which is what Thorair equipment is built for. Only the plug differs: fit a BS 1363 plug or use a heavy-duty adaptor rated for at least 10 amps.
Can a refrigerant dehumidifier cope with Gulf summer heat?
Inside an air-conditioned building, yes; that is where the moisture problem is. Refrigerant LGR units work best between about 20 and 35 degrees and should not be run outdoors in 45 degree heat.
How long does delivery to Dubai or Abu Dhabi take?
Air freight for one or two units typically arrives within one to two weeks of dispatch from Queensland. Pallet orders by sea freight take four to six weeks; we confirm the timing with your freight quote before dispatch.
