What an air purifier removes
Particles. HEPA media captures at least 99.97% of particles at 0.3 microns: pollen, dust mite allergen, pet dander, mould spores, fine dust, bacteria and many viruses. Smoke. Bushfire and cigarette smoke particles are well within the HEPA range; the carbon layer reduces the smell. Gases and odours. Activated carbon adsorbs volatile organic compounds from paint, cleaning products, new furniture and cooking. Microbes. The PureFlow's UV stage helps reduce airborne microbes that pass through the unit.
Sizing an air purifier for your room
Airflow is the number that matters. Divide the unit's airflow in cubic metres per hour by your room's volume to get air changes per hour; aim for four to five for allergy relief and more during smoke events. A 6 m × 5 m room with a 2.7 m ceiling is 81 m³, so the PureFlow 1000 at 1000 m³/h delivers around 12 air changes an hour, enough to treat an open-plan living area, not just one room. Place the unit away from walls and furniture, and run it continuously rather than in short bursts.

Frequently asked questions
Do air purifiers help with mould?
They capture the spores mould releases, which reduces the smell and the allergy load, but they do not fix the moisture that lets mould grow. Use a dehumidifier to bring humidity below 55% and treat the source.
How is an air purifier different from an air scrubber?
Purifiers are designed to run quietly and continuously indoors. Air scrubbers are portable job-site units with higher airflow, quick-change commercial filters and duct connections for containment.
Should I run it all day?
Yes. Particles are constantly reintroduced by people, pets, doors and windows. Continuous operation at a low or automatic speed gives the best results.
Is the PureFlow 1000 loud?
On its lowest setting it is suitable for a bedroom overnight. Use higher speeds during the day or during smoke events, then drop back.
